Motorised Guillotine Glass Systems
Motorised glass guillotine systems close cafes, restaurants, hotel and house verandas and terraces. Two, three or four glass panels move up and down on a remote control.
When the system is fully open, the lowest panel stays at floor level and works as a glass balustrade about 100 cm to 110 cm high. When it is closed, the panels form a continuous transparent wall with thermal and wind sealing.
Mechanical Safety and System Types
The panels are driven by a double industrial steel chain inside the side posts, not by a belt that can stretch or snap. The chain does not need lubrication and has a high tensile strength.
Cleaning the outside glass on an upper floor or a terrace is a risk. On the cleanable model, the lower and middle panels hinge inward about 90°, like a window, so the outer face is washed from inside.
For winter gardens and restaurants, tempered insulating glass of 4+12+4 mm or 5+10+5 mm is used. The aluminium sash profiles can be thermally broken.
Double EPDM gaskets and polyurethane brush seals sit in the glass rebates and at the meeting rails. They keep out air and rain at wind speeds of about 80–100 km/h.
Motor and Safety Equipment
A tube motor of 80 Nm to 140 Nm is concealed in the head box. If the power fails, the system can be opened and closed with a manual crank.
An optional photocell stops the panels within milliseconds if a hand, a finger or any object is detected as they come down.
